My only other option-the one I've been using on this computer-is to use Toast to burn the file to VCD (I don't even have a DVD burner on this old relic). It's only a 230MB file, and the same size file would only take about 15 minutes on my other computer. However, it's not a very good option as it says it will take anywhere from 24 to 32 hours to complete (it keeps fluctuating). (It would be great to also be able to convert.mkv to.avi, but I think my system predates the.mkv format, doesn't it?) Any help and info you guys could give me (other than 'buy a new computer!' ) would be super appreciated, thanks! I was able to upgrade (after 13 years!) my Quicktime Player to Pro, which allows video conversion. I would specifically like to convert.mp4 to.avi. I was just wondering if any media conversion software ever existed for Mac OS X 10.4.11, and if so, where to find it. State of the art at the time, it is now extremely outdated and sluggish. I am staying for an extended period of time at my mother's house and the only computer I have available is my old G4 Mac from 2003. Previous devices are supported by older releases. VLC media player requires Mac OS X 10.7.5 or later.
